Dealing with Tough Times

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem,

Dealing with tough times:

Life gets so difficult at times and nothing seems to be going well.  We find ourselves feeling sad, and all alone etc. but ALLAH SWT says in Surah Inshirah 94: 5-6: So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:  Verily, with every difficulty there is relief”.  He also says in Surat Luqman 31:17 that “…..be patient over what befalls you….”.  We should try by all means to be patient over what befalls us because sometimes ALLAH lets us go through tough times so that we can become better people.

So we should never ever think that ALLAH has deserted us at all.  He says in Surat Ad-Duhaa 93:3 that: “Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased”.  Let’s hold on tight to the rope of ALLAH regardless of the situations we are in.  We should not let tough times come between us and Our Lord – thinking that we go through the tough times because he is displeased with us, sometimes its not always the case.  He wants us to go through such times, to train us, so that we can appreciate the good times when He brings them.  He continues to say in Surat Ad-Duhaa 93: 5 “And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased”.  So let us bear with patience whatever befalls us bearing in mind that the tough times are not permanent.  Just like seasons, they will come and go.

ALLAH Azza Wa Jal says in Surah Al-Imran 3:186 that “Ye shall certainly be tried and tested in your possessions and in your personal selves; and ye shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Book before you and from those who worship many gods. But if ye persevere patiently and guard against evil then that will be a determining factor in all affairs”.

ALLAH Ta’ala continues to say in Surah Al- Baqara 2:155 that “Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil) but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere”.  This just shows us that with patience and steadfastness all will be okay.  So let us accept whatever situation we are in and keep our tongues moist with the remembrance of ALLAH SWT as much as we can so that He can make it easy for us.

He says “Then do ye remember Me; I will remember you. Be grateful to Me and reject not faith” Surah Al-Baqara 2:152. Let us have faith that the tough times will be over soon in sha ALLAH!  Let us not despair of the Mercy of our Creator, let us not lose faith, let us continue to do our Salah so that we can bring ourselves closer to Him and tell Him how we feel. He will never forsake us. He says in Surah Al-`Alaq 96:19 …… Bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to God)!   Remember “only in the remembrance of ALLAH do hearts find peace”.

Asalaamu alaykum

Asalaamu alaykum brothers and sisters,

Hope you are doing well.

Let us be like Prophet Moses (Alayhissalaam) through the tough times that we go through, who stated confidently that "Nay verily with me is my Lord, He will guide me" (Qur'an 26:62). Let us not allow tough times to shake the trust that we have in our Lord.

The Dua of Prophet Moses (Alayhi Salaam)

Jumuah Mubarak!

Laylatul Qadr-The Night of Power!

Laylatul Qadr-The Night of Power!
By Abu Muhmmad Yusuf

Allah Ta’ala in His infinite Mercy has favoured us in so many ways. Such blessings that we cannot possibly enumerate nor show sufficient gratitude to the Almighty. Amongst the many blessings include a very special GIFT..Laylatul Qadr- The Night of Power.

It is an opportunity to gain closeness to our Creator, forgiveness of our sins and an elevated position in Jannah (Paradise). The Night of Power is better that a 1000 months(83 years, 4 months)!

Allah, Most Wise, says:

"The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.” (Quran 97:3 )

The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) is reported to have said:

“Whosoever stands in "Ibaadah" (worship) on this night, with sincere faith and with genuine hopes of gaining reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." (Hadith-Bukhari and Muslim)

When is it?

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is reported to have said:

"Seek it (laylatul qadr) in Ramadan in the last ten nights. For verily, it is during the odd nights, 21st 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th or the last night of Ramadhan." (Sahih Hadith Ahmad 5:318)

From traditions we learn that among the signs of this night is that it is a serene, quiet, shining night, neither hot, nor cold but temperate as if a moon is shining clear, and no meteors are shot at the "Shayateen" on that night; it lasts until the break of the dawn. Another sign is that at morn, the Sun rises without any radiant beams of light, appearing rather like the moon in it's fullness. On that day, Allah prohibits the "Shayateen" from rising up with the Sun.

What to do on this night?

Worship during this night can take on many forms. Here are a few suggestions to help you through Laylatul Qadr:

·      Take a vacation for Allah! If possible, take a vacation for the last 10 days of Ramadan.Plan ahead if you are working.

·      Discuss the importance of this night with your friends and family and Islamic Scholars(Ulama). Create an atmosphere for ibadah(worship).

·      Perform Itikaaf (seclusion in a Masjid for worship) –Try to spend full ten days in I’tikaf. If you cannot spend all 10 days in Itikaaf, then do as man y days as you can - even if it is only one day. According to the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) “whosoever performs "I'tikaaf" for a day thereby seeking the pleasure of Allah, Allah will spread three trenches between him and the fire of Hell, the width of each trench being greater than the distance between Heaven and the Earth."

·      Increase the recitation of the Qur'an- Try to recite as much Qur’an as possible. There is great virtue in recitation. (reflect on the meaning of the verses, especially the verses used in Salah. This will help you concentrate)

·      Increase Salah (prayer).Read as many Nawaafil (optional)Prayers as possible. Eg Tahajjud Salaah, Salatul Tasbih etc

·      Make abundant Zikr (i.e remembering Allah, sending salawaat on our beloved Rasulullah(salallaho alaihe wassallam) and making Istigfaar(seeking forgiveness from Al lah)

·      Dua (Asking from Allah)- Spend lots of time begging from Allah to fulfil your needs and the needs of the Ummah both in this world and the hereafter. Ramadaan is r eplete with moments when duas are accepted. Aaisha (Radhiallaho anha) reports: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam), should I find myself the "Laylatul Qadr", what shall I pray. The Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) replied: say,
Allaahumma innaka afuwwun tohibbul'afwa fa'fu anna
"O Allah, Thou art the One who grants pardon for sins. Thou lovest to pardon, so pardon me." (Hadith-Recorded by Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and at-Tirmithi)

·      Make list of Things you need from Allah-Ask yourself what you really want from Allah. Make a list of each and everything, no matter how small or how big it is, whether it deals w ith this world or the hereafter. Allah loves to hear from us and wants us to beg of Him. Once this list is ready then use it in your prayers.

·      Best time for dua- Make sincere and all-embracing Duas. One of the best times to do this is during the last part of the night especially at the time of suhoor (sehri). Abu Hurair a, may Allah be pleased with him, related that Rasulullah (salallaho alaihe wassallam) said: When the last one-third of the night remains, our Lord, the Glorious One descends towards the heaven of the earth and proclaims: Who is that who supplicates for Me, and I grant his supplication? Who is that who begs Me for anything and I grant it to him? And who is that who seeks My forgiveness, and I forgive him? (Hadith-Bukhari, Muslim).

·      Take regular breaks during the night to avoid getting over-exhausted. Try switching between different forms of worship.

May Allah accept our prayers and allow us to take full benefit of this Mubarak Night and let us not forget our brothers and sisters all over the world who are being oppressed and facing extreme hardships.

Asalaamu alaykum WaRahmatullahi WaBarakatuhu,

Sometimes I wonder why is it easy for us to do things and wrong our souls but find it difficult to live with the consequences.  But it is never too late to ask ALLAH Ta'ala to forgive us.

After having eaten the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve regretted it and sought ALLAH's forgiveness and said: "Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: if Thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost." (Surah Al-Araf, 7:23).

ALLAH Azza Wa Jal says in the Glorious Qur'an: "If any one does evil or wrongs his own soul but afterwards seeks God's Forgiveness, he will find God Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."  Surah An-Nisa 4:110).

The Prophet (SAW) said: ALLAH, Blessed and Exalted is He, says:

"O son of Adam, as long as you call on Me, I shall forgive you of what you have done, and think nothing of it.  O son of Adam, even if your sins were to reach up to the clouds in the sky, and then you were to ask for My Forgiveness, I would forgive you and think nothing of it.  O son of Adam, even if you were to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth, and then you were to meet Me after death, not worshiping anything besides Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as the earth."  [Tirmidhi].

So, in view of the above, let us ask ALLAH Ta'ala to forgive us for the wrongs we have done, for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Until next time in sha ALLAH, Fi Amaanillah!

Wasalaam

ALLAH is One:

Let us send blessings on our Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

The Sayings of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him):

Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said: "You will not enter paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another." (Sahih Muslim). He (Peace Be Upon Him) also said: "You will not be a believer until you love for your brother what you love for yourself" (Sahih Al-Bukhari).
